Girls’ High School & College is one of the oldest schools in Prayagraj with more than four thousand enrolled students. Girls’ High School & College is essentially a day school with fully air-conditioned Hostel facility for hundred & twenty boarders from outstation. Under the dynamic leadership of its Principal, Rev. Dr. (Mrs.) Vinita Eusebius, The school in consistently maintaining its high standards & going from strength to strength. The school is committed to the education of the girl child and this tradition which began in 1861 is continuing till date. Academically the institution is well-equipped for providing all the facilities required for the students. It has fully air-conditioned Nursery section with modern & hi-tech audio visual teaching facility to make learning interesting for the little ones.
The school has a state of the art Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories which cater to the needs and demands of the students who have opted for science stream. As high-tech teaching has become a part of the education system, the G.H.S. & C. has left no stone unturned to achieve its goal of modernisation of education. The institution has three Computer laboratories with latest version of computers at the disposal of the students. To enhance the knowledge and refresh young minds the institution has a School Library with innumerable reference books; fiction, non-fiction and encyclopaediae. The school has started smart classes to keep pace with the changing & progressing times. With the aim of helping struggling learners shore up their basic skills, the school gives extra support in the form of Remedial Classes, to help students catch up to the peers. This facility is provided by the school free of cost.
The Institution has excelled in the field of sports as well. It has produced a number of state and national level athletes. To prepare them for such events the school has provided them with a wonderful swimming pool and a basket-ball court with able coaches. The institution emphasizes upon the all-round development of a child’s personality and therefore, it provides ample opportunities to the students to exhibit their talents on the stage as well. The G.H.S. & College boasts of being the only institution to have an exceptional school band comprising entirely of our girls.
The Institution has two auditoriums, Senior and Junior, where extra-curricular activities like debate, elocution, dramatics and singing competitions are regularly held to hone the talents of our girls. The school also organizes heaths camps periodically as the general wellbeing of the students is its primary concern. A no-plastic eco-friendly environment in the school campus is an emerging asset for the institution. Yoga and physical training are a part of the daily routine. To encourage and ease financial constraints in order to facilitate girl child education, the Principal has graciously extended scholarships to students, granted free education for the daughters of class IV employees and children from orphanages, provided free coaching to the hostel students. Remedial classes throughout the year for the weak students have been implemented, free of charge. Basket Ball, Volleyball & Music (instrumental) coaching is encouraged and provided, free of cost, for students in the evenings.
